Location-Based Redirection Privacy Notice

Last updated: 19 June 2026

1. About this notice

This notice explains how io.tt Limited (“io.tt”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles location information when you scan a QR code or follow a link and are asked to share your device’s location before being redirected.

It applies only to io.tt’s handling of your location information for this redirection.

The wider campaign, promotion, service or digital experience is operated by the organisation responsible for the QR code or link. We refer to it in this notice as the responsible organisation.

The responsible organisation’s own privacy notice may provide further information about why your location is being requested and how information relating to the wider experience is used.

2. Who we are

io.tt provides the technology used to process your device’s reported location and redirect you to the relevant destination.

Company: io.tt Limited
Registered address: Seddons, New Cavendish Street, London, England, W1W 6XX
Email: support@io.tt

3. Our role

io.tt provides the location-based redirection service on behalf of the responsible organisation.

The responsible organisation decides why location is used in connection with its campaign, promotion or digital experience. io.tt processes your location information to provide the redirection service in accordance with that organisation’s instructions.

The responsible organisation is responsible for determining the lawful basis for using your location and for providing any additional privacy information relevant to its campaign or experience.

4. What information we process

When you choose to share your location, your browser or device may provide io.tt with:

  • latitude and longitude coordinates representing its reported location;
  • an estimate of the accuracy of those coordinates;
  • the date and time of the request;
  • details of the QR code or link you accessed; and
  • standard technical information associated with the request, such as browser, device or network information.

Your device, operating system and browser determine the location information that is provided. io.tt does not independently determine or physically verify your location.

Location information may be inaccurate because of device settings, signal availability, network conditions, browser permissions or other technical factors. Reported coordinates may also be altered or manipulated.

5. How we use your location

We use your device’s reported location to:

  • compare it with a geographic area configured by the responsible organisation;
  • determine which destination or content should be shown to you;
  • redirect you to that destination;
  • record and report location-based activity associated with the relevant QR code or link.

The purpose of requesting your location is to support location-aware digital experiences. For example, this may allow the responsible organisation to provide one experience while you are at a particular location and another experience when you are elsewhere.

The service is not intended to be treated as a guaranteed method of confirming your physical location, identity or eligibility.

A successful location match means only that the coordinates reported by your device fell within the configured area at the time of the request.

6. Your choice to share location

Your location will only be provided to us if you allow your browser or device to share it.

You can decline the request. However, if you do not share your location, we may be unable to determine whether your device is within the relevant geographic area or redirect you to the location-specific destination.

You can also manage location permissions through your browser or device settings.

7. Who receives your information

Your information may be processed by:

  • io.tt;
  • the responsible organisation, where it receives reporting or other information as part of the service it has requested.

The responsible organisation may separately collect information when you arrive at its website, enter a promotion or interact with its campaign or experience. Its own privacy notice applies to that processing.

We do not sell your location information.

8. How long we keep your information

io.tt stores the location coordinates reported during a location-based redirection request.

We retain those coordinates for as long as io.tt provides the relevant service to the responsible organisation. The coordinates are deleted when the responsible organisation’s contract for that service ends.

The coordinates are not linked by io.tt to your name, contact details, an account or an individual user record. They are not used by io.tt to identify you or to build a profile about you.

9. How we protect your information

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect location information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure.

Access is limited to those who need the information to provide, maintain or support the location-based redirection service.

10. The responsible organisation

The responsible organisation determines why your location is requested and what location-based experience is provided.

Please refer to the responsible organisation’s own privacy notice for information about its wider campaign, website or digital experience.

11. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice to reflect changes to the location-based redirection service or how it operates.

The latest version will be available from the location request page and will show the date on which it was last updated.
