Ushering in a new age of NFC
io.tt, the enterprise platform for connected products, announced its first wave of encoded inlays that are using Pragmatic Semiconductor’s flexible chips.
Why does this matter?
Pragmatic’s flexible integrated circuits can go in places where traditional silicon chips simply can’t. With their ultra-thin and flexible form factor, the chips in these new inlays unlock enormous potential for app-less digital connectivity across consumer goods, packaging, food and beverages, logistics, healthcare, and more.
Combining our io.tt URLs and Pragmatic’s flexible chips (FlexICs) delivers sustainable, cost-effective, and scalable intelligence. The NFC-enabled inlays provide brands and manufacturers with the ability to deliver scalable, data-rich connected experiences directly from each product.
Our Connected Experience Report (CXR) Vol. 3, released in conjunction with Pragmatic Semiconductor and others, found that 92% of brands are either using NFC or planning to in the next 12 months, up from 24% the previous year.
Top drivers for this technology are authentication and consumer engagement, with brands understanding the power of connected products to elevate customer satisfaction.
The inlays carry pre-encoded io.tt URLs so that any product using them is instantly capable of delivering data-rich digital experiences straight from a simple tap of a smartphone.
The market is ready
By bringing our io.tt platform together with Pragmatic’s flexible intelligence technology, we’re helping brands bridge the gap between physical products and digital experiences at global scale.
Cameron Worth, io.tt founder and CEO, said, “Brands now finally have no reason not to scale NFC across their portfolios now that the cost and complexity have both been removed. I’m really excited for 2026 to be the breakout year for NFC, and as io.tt we’re perfectly positioned to meet the needs of clients.”
Ravi Sundaram, Senior Director, Product Management at Pragmatic Semiconductor, said, “With NFC technology, brands benefit from richer, more engaging interactions with their customers. Platforms like io.tt help companies to bring connected products to market and deliver valuable information on authentication, traceability, and recycling and reuse rates directly to consumers."
